Alright alright alright! I’m back (for a little while anyway)!! Man, it’s been a minute since I’ve posted anything and I’m SOOOo excited to share what I’ve been up to! Let me start by saying a certain someone (me ????) is having a major life changing event next month and have been busy for the past several months preparing for that. So, when one of my girlfriends announced that she was expecting and asked me to put together a budget friendly, glam nursery, I was all in! I definately needed a break and was glad to get back to decorating for a bit.
My friend wanted a sophisticated feel with lots of bling, and she loved the color coral. So we started out by painting the entire room using a combination of two shades of coral. Here’s what the room looked like before:
So… Yeah…..we had to do two coats of behrs paint with primer to cover mr. monkey and his sidekick, headless giraffe. But before we got started I created a mock up using the polyvore app (super addicting and fun to use btw!). Here’s the mock up:
The room didn’t turn out exactly like the mock up. For one, we decided on coral stripes for the wall which I created using painters tape and a laser leveler. But everything just everything just seemed to come together (love it when that happens!). Here’s the finished room and the breakdown:
T
I bought the chandelier at goodwill for $10. It was originally brass so I had to prime it by scratching the surface with some sand paper then spray paint it antique white. I also used a glossy clear spray paint to seal it and give it some luster. I bought some crystals from Amazon (Link here) and added them to the painted chandelier to give it some glam. The artwork above was also created by yours truly using regular printing paper, metallic gold foil heat transfer and the foil applicator. The white matted frame was purchased at target for under $20. The letters and cute diaper bundles were from the baby shower decor that we just reused in the space. The rug, curtains, pillows and throw were purchased from Ross. All the furniture were existing pieces, including the mirror which we spray painted metallic gold – it was originally dark brown/black.
This was my first nursery and I’m way pleased with how it came out! My friend and her hubby love the new nursery, and their 8 yr old daughter is already requesting that her room be done the same (she’s actually been staying in the nursery until the baby gets here – just breaking it in for her little sis lol)! Oh and don’t worry, mom to be was nowhere near the room when painting, etc. was being done! Anyhoo, let me know what you guys think! Is there anything you like most about the room? Is there anything you would do differently? Leave your comments below – I would love to hear from you!

I love the transformation! This coral seemon the pink side, which is lovely for this nursery. I like how you seem to get a glam look using DIY, upcycle and discount buys.
