Why hello there! The weather in beautiful Atlanta, Ga is finally starting to warm up a bit and I cannot wait to pack away the sweaters and whip out the Blazers and ballet flats! Spring not only gets me excited for lighter clothes and all the fun outdoor activities that come along with it, but really gets me motivated to complete my decorating projects! Anyhoo, I have some last minute guests coming in town in a few weeks and had to scramble to get my junk craft room looking like a bedroom and not a catch all for my decorating stuff! With limited time and funds, I had to shop my home to pull together a last minute spring like guest room.
I started by painting the room from toasted almond to a warm grey. This was actually left over paint from my staircase landing (pics here). I used a few pieces from my chartreuse living room from my old apt including the Buddha head and owl tea light holder. The art work is my rendition of a piece I saw on art.com that I actually created for my chartreuse living room. I spray painted an old ikea side table silver to give it new life and the flowers, pillows, and lamp were in my craft/decorating stash.
I really wanted to experiment with liquid Gold leaf in art and used this as an opportunity to take a stab at it. I had a frame from goodwill that I wasn’t sure what to do with yet so this worked out perfectly. I used the gray paint from the walls as the backdrop on the piece and added dabs of colorful acrylic paint and liquid gold leaf. I don’t think it came out too shabby for my first attempt!
So what do you think of my last minute guest room? Have you ever shopped your home when working on a project? What are some of the pieces you have used that are versatile? Let me know all about your experiences and your thoughts on the room, leave a comment below!
